O2M 6spd- alloy shift forks

so it sounds like everyone's favorite weak link in these are the shift forks. seeing as how DM offers up a single fork (3rd to 4th iirc), but none of the other forks in the system? i am guessing from what i have looked into that is due to being the most failure prone, as well as easiest to replace? so please correct me if i am wrong.

long story short, i am building a 6spd to replace the 5spd i was running. and since i have access to people with the right skill sets, tools, etc, i am looking into making replacements for all of the forks for my personal project. so i figure maybe get a discussion going on this, and see what people think? i dont know how many o2m owners push, or are looking to push up over 500whp, and to try and do it as reliably as possible?

a couple pics for reference...

Material will be 7075-T6, pads are Ampco 18. The main enemy here is fatigue and heat. 7075 has a great fatigue life, small grain structure, they should preform better than the poured brass the factory ones.

and some new TAR-OX brakes for the golf, straight from the UK..

And a little press release from the folks over at Open Road Tuning, thanks again Andrew :)

"In case the yellow anodized calipers were a bit much on your eyes, here's a snap of the TAR•OX B34-10GT in black. Mike Olson has a set on order for his R33T Golf. Keep your eyes peeled for some new photos and a full write up!"

Elliot put it best, "You crazy sonbitch....."

so i decided it would be funny, and get Elliot all sorts of torqued up if i did this. might as well make it official, since i have had, at last count, 26 different sets of wheels on this car in 9 or so years. i would say 27, but the set going on for the coming season were on the car before a few years back haha..and since Dawn is still working on shooting anything and everything for her portfolio, she came along for some pics. and thanks as always, for fitting me in for all sorts of last minute ink, to Jerred Kincaid @ Holy Mackerel Tattoo Studio

quick update (real one coming, i promise)
