its been a hell of a ride. one owner, and done....

tearing the golf down for the last time this weekend. kinda bittersweet i suppose. and ran across this pic on FB. first roadtrip in the gti, may 2003. left minnesota with less than 1000 miles on it, and off to daytona beach we went....

so it begins..

so i went and did it. i have had it out for this bike since the first time i saw my pal Joe with it. and over the years, its progressed as hes owned it. punched out to a 1200, Ohlins remote res rear suspension, Buell wheel, tire, and braking componenentry, and fork, etc. even funnier, the bike more or less matches my old paint scheme, matte silver with bronze wheels :) more once i get it home, and get the list from him on all the specifics. listening to him list it all off reminded me of when people ask whast been done to my golf...

BSA aluminum rod failure.

this, folks, is the carnage created by rod bolt failure. not a car engine, but an old british twin, that we found out had already been over bored .040. so not only a new upper cyl casing, but new pistons and rods as well. ouch....
